The US luxury sales crown might return to the three-pointed star brand this year, with the gap between Mercedes-Benz and BMW getting a bit wider in October.
The Stuttgart manufacturer posted a 25.4 per cent sales increase in October compared to last year, helping the brand double its current lead over BMW in the United States this year.
One of the main reasons for the major rise in sales can be attributed to the first full month of availability of the Mercedes-Benz CLA, which was probably even more expected than the S-Class in the United States.
With no less than 4,895 units sold it its first full month, the CLA jumped from nowhere in becoming the third best-sold Mercedes-Benz model in the US.
Considering the year-to-date sales lead over BMW stands at 4,986 vehicles now, you could say that the Mercedes-Benz CLA has almost single-handedly helped the Stuttgart manufacturer end the two-year reign of the Bavarians in the land of the free. Of course, 2013 is not over yet and BMW might pull another one of their last year's tricks to keep their US luxury sales crown.
