The GL63 AMG was made by Mercedes-Benz in partnership with AMG as one of the fastest luxurious SUVs with three rows and was introduced on the market in late 2012.

If anyone was often in a hurry and needed a large, three-row SUV that could top the 0 to 60 mph (97 kph) run in less than five seconds, then the answer was this behemoth. It was as spacious and luxurious as an Escalade and as fast as a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

While some AMG vehicles showed a very aggressive stance, the GL63 looked more like a trim level for a regular GL. Still, a trained eye could've noticed the double-slat, AMG-specific grille from that era. In addition, the front bumper featured the A-shaped lower air intake flanked on the sides by the air-scoops that cooled the brakes and the LED daytime running lights. From its profile, the big SUV revealed its five double-spoke 21" light-alloy wheels with an AMG-specific design. In addition, the flared wheel arches made room for the wide, 295 tires.

Inside, the automaker installed an ARTCO, man-made leather interior with double stitching that covered the dashboard, the seats, and the door cards. The GL63 AMG features plenty of equipment, such as the COMMAND infotainment unit with a sat-nav system, sports seats for the front passengers, a bench for three in the middle row, and two occupants could sit in the last row.

Under the hood, the carmaker installed a twin-turbocharged, hand-built V8 engine. It was mated as standard with a seven-speed automatic transmission that sent power in all corners, with a transfer case that sent the torque in a front-to-rear 40:60 split ratio.
