It is already well known that even from the beginnings, Jaguar was all about creating big luxury sedans. The brand did not disappoint with its XF released for 2020 and presented an even more appealing car, both the interior and the exterior being redesigned.

The front was enhanced with the new all-LED headlights that had the „Double J” signature. The headlights didn’t only look good, but were highly efficient with the Adaptive Driving Beam, a system that could analyze the road and adapt the high beam to the traffic conditions.

The front bumper and the grille were redesigned for a more dynamic look. The rear was fitted with a wider bumper and darkened rear lights.

While the exterior designed convinced us, the 2020 XF was also comfortable and practical, The huge opening of the trunk revealed impressive space for luggages.

The vehicle was equipped with parking sensors all long the back and for a more pleasant experience, users could choose a top-roof mounted camera that offered high visibility in the back, even if the car was full of passengers.

While looking inside the XF, we noticed the beautiful black stitchings along with the soft touch materials used for the details.

From the driver’s perspective, the XF offered a pleasant view, with the nicely designed clusters and the infotainment system. The infotainment system offered more than the already standard media streaming or simply connecting the phone. Both the driver and the passenger could start the seats heating with a touch.

For 2020, the XF was a good competitor to the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes’ E-Class. What’s your option?

The 2015 Jaguar XF kept the same seductive look of the 2007 British saloon, but somehow it manages to be even better looking. Underneath though, lies a completely new platform better than the old S-Type platform which was used for the first generation of the XF. The wheelbase was increased by 55 mm (2,1”), reaching now a total of 2960 mm (116.5”). The result is an increase in the rear passenger's legroom. But, since the front overhang is shorter by 66 mm (2.6”), the total length is slightly shorter than the previous XF. But the biggest gain is that the weight distribution is now 50:50, offering better handling for the car.

Jaguar installed a new adaptive suspension which monitors body movement 100 times per second and wheel movement 500 times per second. For better traction, the XF may be fitted with all-wheel-drive, for the V6 engines. It features an 8-speed automatic transmission and a chain drive transfer case. It is claimed that it is quieter. The same system was present on other premium vehicles before.

For the infotainment unit, there is a 10.2” touchscreen and Dual View technology. This allows the driver to see the navigation system while the right passenger can watch a movie. For a better sound experience, the vehicle features an 825W Meridian system with 17 speakers.

After escaping from Ford ownership, the British carmaker Jaguar rushed to the drawing boards to improve the cars it already had in its portfolio, and the XF was a safe bet for that.

While it was still linked to various parts from the American carmaker, Jaguar was keen to get new parts from other carmakers. It also enhanced the car's lines, which were now closer to what Ian Callum penned for the 2007 XF, but they were too expensive to implement. Since Tata Industries owned the carmaker, it had the money to upgrade the premium mid-size sedan vehicle.

At the front, the carmaker completely restyled the front fascia. The new headlights sported an angry look but without the cut for the low-beam headlamp used on the 2007 model. It turned out that there were solutions for that, but Ford considered them too expensive. Now, those technologies, which included better lenses and different light-bulbs became more affordable. On top of that, Jaguar installed LED daytime running lights that underlined the headlights. At the back, the design team made a few adjustments to the taillights and extended them over the trunk lid.

Inside, the carmaker didn't make too many changes. It changed the trims and a few colors, but the 2007 model was already well designed and too modern to be changed entirely.

Under the skin, the Jaguar XF was heavily improved. Unlike the 2007 model, it became accessible with inline-four turbocharged engines, either gasoline or diesel. The carmaker also replaced the six-speed automatic gearbox with a newer, eight-speed gearbox. Last but not least, it introduced an all-wheel-drive version with technology carried over from Land Rover.

The XF was the last model developed by Jaguar before it was sold by Ford to Tata Industries in 2007, and in 2011, it received important updates under the new management.

While it was based on the former, and unsuccessful Jaguar S-Type, the XF was well received by the market due to its design and interior features. Some of them were carried over to the facelifted version, but others were lost on the way.

From the outside, the new headlights design matched the bodywork's shape. The non-facelifted version had to use a pair of headlamps which were intruding into the hood. It looked sleeked and the raked A-pillars and sloped back resembled a four-door coupe shape. The LED taillights were completely new.

Inside, the XF cought its audience due to the rotating vents and the rotary gear selector knob that was rising from the center console. The same system was kept, but the gearbox was new. The instrument cluster featured a color display between the tachometer and speedometer and a new infotainment touch-screen was integrated into the center stack. But some buttons were still carried-over from the former Ford models such as the Fiesta, or from Land Rover.

Jaguar unveiled the 2011 XF with a new, 2.2-liter engine. It was the same unit used on the Land Rover Freelander and it was the result of a joint-effort between Ford and PSA (Peugeot-Citroen group). The new, 190 hp unit was the promise to increase the fuel-efficiency. The 8-speed automatic transmission was new as well. Another important update was the new 5.0-liter Jaguar V8 gasoline engine with variable timing. It produced almost the same amount of power as the previous, supercharged unit.

With the introduction of the XF range in the autumn of 2007, Jaguar opened a new chapter in its model lineup.

Jaguar was losing money, and Ford was concerned about that. At the beginning of 2007, the first signs of a future crisis appeared, and the carmaker had to act fast. Time was not on their side, and it couldn't postpone the introduction of the new vehicle, and instead of using a unique, all-aluminum platform, the car had to stick with the older, S-Type underpinnings. Jaguar carried over most of the engines from Ford's products, so the XF was ready and launched in September 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Thus, it raised the stock prices for Jaguar-Land Rover and got a profit from that when it sold the British carmaker to Tata Industries in 2008.

When Ian Callum penned the car, it tried to make it look like a four-door coupe, and he succeeded in doing that. The headlights featured an unusual design, with a round headlamp that intruded into the hood's space. Its chromed mesh-grille resembled older Jaguars, while the wrapped-around bumper sported an aggressive look with a rectangular middle section.

Inside, Jaguar made a revolution in the interior design with its rotating vents, the touch-sensitive buttons for the interior ambient lighting, and the glove compartment. On the center console, the around gear selector raised automatically after the engine started. Its front bucket seats and comfortable rear bench offered room for four due to the high center tunnel.

Under the hood, Jaguar installed a range of Ford-sourced engines. In the beginning, it used diesel and two gasoline versions. Later on, the carmaker added more options, such as an all-wheel-drive system or powerful engines.
