Chevrolet introduced the 2024 Silverado EV in 2022 and showed the future of its pickup lineup with this electron-powered vehicle aimed at customers who used it mostly for leisure and less for work.

Built on top of the same ULTIUM platform as its sibling GMC Sierra EV and GMC HUMMER, the Silverado EV showed the future of this utility vehicle. Moreover, it wasn't just a leisure truck since Chevrolet offered it in several grades, including as a Work Truck beside the RST First Edition trim level.

The vehicle's design was miles away from any other Silverado ever built. At the front, it featured narrow daytime running lights and an LED stripe that crossed the upper section of the main front fascia. Chevrolet installed the headlights lower, on the sides, in individual clusters. Where the regular grille used to be, the Silverado sported a body-colored panel adorned by the bow-tie badge on its top. From its profile, the plastic cladding on the wheel arches emphasized the car's rugged appearance. At the back, the bed was available with a Multi-Flex Midgate that expanded the loading length.

Inside, GM provided a premium-vehicle interior fitted with all the latest technologies it had in stock. At the front, the automaker installed a pair of screens for the infotainment system and another for the instrument panel. At the back, the split-folding bench provided enough room for three passengers.

But the most important part of the Silverado EV was under its skin. The ULTIUM platform provided a four-wheel drive and a four-wheel steering system. Thanks to its 664 hp (673 PS) and 780 lb-ft (1057 Nm), it could tow up to 10,000 lbs (4,536 kg) while having a payload of 1,300 lbs (590 kg). To top it all off, the Silverado EV could sprint from naught to 60 mph (0-97 kph) in less than 4.5 seconds.

Sharing its platform with the luxurious RST, the WT version was the base version for the Silverado EV and was introduced by Chevrolet at the beginning of 2023.

GMC developed the ULTIUM platform for several vehicles, including the HUMMER and the Sierra, but also used it when it created Chevrolet Silverado. The bow-tie branded pickup was offered either in a luxurious version, the RST First Edition, or as a Work Truck (WT). Thus, workers could get a low-maintenance, worry-free vehicle for work. In addition, it allowed them to power their tools directly from the vehicle they reached the construction site.

With a front fascia that looked carried over from the Transformer series, the WT sported an unpainted, black front bumper with an impressive bush guard to protect it. Furthermore, on the sides, the automaker installed protective plastic cladding around the wheel fenders and on the side steps. Finally, at the back, the same unpainted, scratch-resistant material for the rear bumper. Steel wheels were fitted as standard, albeit with an option for alloys.

Inside, the WT featured a contrasting design with a high-tech look for the dual-screen dashboard and fabric upholstery that promised to be stain-resistant but not pleasant to touch. Fortunately, as part of the standard package, the vehicle has received AC and power windows for all doors. Thanks to the ULTIUM platform, the automaker was able to install a front trunk for occupants' belongings and a modulable rear bed for tools and materials. In addition, Chevrolet offered an option for 10.2 kW offboard power, which was enough for working in the field, away from any power outlets.

Power came from a twin-motor setup that provided 510 hp, and the vehicle could tow up to 8,000 lbs (3,628 kg) in the standard version with an option for 20,000 lbs (9,071 kg).

Chevrolet had accelerated the development of the Silverado 1500 lineup, and in 2021 it unveiled a refreshed version of the 2019 model year introduced in late 2018.

While the most significant addition to the range was the ZR2 version, the rest of its stablemates were also enhanced. Thus, the automaker tried to keep the momentum gained with the Silverado lineup on the market, which was the automaker's best-selling truck. Nevertheless, customers were also delighted to find new, improved interiors and fresh infotainment units in their vehicles.

Available in a few trim levels and cab versions, the Silverado 1500 was the light-duty truck that made the job done and customers happy. But styling was also important, so Chevrolet started with that. At the front, the 2022 model year came with an improved front fascia that featured a broad grille adorned with chromed horizontal slats, depending on the version. In addition, the wing-shaped DRLs were positioned lower than in the 2019 model year and featured dynamic lighting (LT trim level) when approaching and leaving the vehicle.

The cabin didn't look like a work truck anymore and featured a 12.3" TFT for the instrument panel with four user-selectable displays. Also, Chevrolet installed a 13.4" touchscreen atop the center stack for the infotainment system. Another significant upgrade was for the safety system, which was enhanced with the Super Cruise feature that could even automatically change lanes when not trailering.

GM went all in when it made the 2022 Silverado and provided the truck with a wide engine range with four, six, and eight cylinders. The 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel was one of the best-selling versions.

Exactly one century after Chevrolet delivered the first truck in January 1918, the American brand started the deliveries of the 2019 model Silverado. The new range was shown in December 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Silverado was a completely different line than Colorado, which was a class smaller. Depending on the loading capacity, the Silverado was available in three specs: 1500, 2500, and 3500. 2500 was built for those who are using the truck for daily driving with heavy loads.

The 2019 Silverado 2500 was longer, wider and stronger than its predecessor. The front headlights were smaller, with a styling cue that could resemble the Camaro headlights design. The fenders were enlarged for a stronger visual look. In the back, on the tailgate, the Chevrolet word was embossed into the metal sheet. Bigger, 17” alloy wheels were installed on the truck.

Inside, there was the typical dashboard design, like a wall in front of the front passengers. The instrument cluster featured more information on the six dials and on a small TFT display placed between the speedometer and tachometer. On the center console, the infotainment system featured 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, Apple Car Play, Android Auto, and OnStar safety and security features. For the rear passengers, the room was a little cramped, fit for short journeys to and from the working site. For those who want the truck for family use, the crew-cab would be a better choice.

Under the hood, the Silverado 2500 offered with six engine versions, including new 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s, plus a new inline-six 3.0-liter diesel. The diesel and the 6.2-liter were mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the other versions were equipped with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

After seven years, the Silverado 1500 evolved and promised a better experience for its owners. The Silverado lineup is mainly built for daily use, for small contractors and entrepreneurs. It was not built for really heavy trailers or loads, but it can handle well a lot of torture without torturing its owners. The optional “towing package” allows trailers up to 11.500 lbs (5216 kg) for the V8 versions and only 7200 lbs (3265 kg) for the V6.

The regular cab has three-passenger bench seating and enough options to ensure a comfortable ride to and from work. It has a choice of different beds in the back, and the longest is 6'6” long. In the rear it features a step sculpted in the bumper for easier access to the bed.

Inside, the Chevrolet designers moved the infotainment unit up on the dashboard to be easier to read and reach and made it compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, the big buttons and the main commands for HVAC systems have big round knobs so they could be used with a gloved hand. The Silverado 1500 is equipped with electric power steering instead of the old hydraulic type.

Under the hood of this half-ton pickup there are three engine choices: a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. All of them come with direct injection, cylinder deactivation, and variable valve timing.

The 2014 Silverado 1500 Double Cab evolved and promised a better experience for its owners. The Silverado lineup is mainly built for daily use, for small contractors and entrepreneurs. The optional “towing package” allowed trailers up to 11.500 lbs.

Just like the Crew Cab, the Silverado 1500 Double Cab offered room for five people . Maybe that's why it offered up to 5 USB charging ports and a 110v outlet. It had a choice of different beds in the back, and the longest was 6'6” long. In the rear, it featured a step sculpted in the bumper for easier access to the bed. Upfront, from the bumper to the hood, the entire grille was chromed. The Silverado 1500 had standard 17” wheels and up to 20” wheels were offered as an option.

The dashboard was plain and simple, yet it offered some modern technologies such as the infotainment system that could connect via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The Silverado 1500 is equipped with electric power steering instead of a hydraulic type.

Under the hood of this half-ton pickup, there were three engine choices: a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8. All of them featured direct injection, cylinder deactivation, and variable valve timing. For the 4x4 versions, a Hill Descent Control is available, which works together with the Auto Grade Braking from the standard 6-speed automatic transmission.

More and mode people who are looking for a pickup-truck are looking for an affordable, tough vehicle, but with car-like driving experience. The 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD promises to have all of these.

The 2013 update brought more styling on the outside and, depending on the trim level, has more chrome and SUV-alike front fascia. The Z71 trim includes 18-inch wheels (optional on LT, standard on LTZ) and unique interior trim, including brushed metal sill plates, a technical finish on interior trim pieces and Z71 graphics on the instrument cluster.

The interior of the Silverado 2500 HD wasn't upgraded, or at least it doesn't have noticeable upgrades. Compared with the RAM and Ford models on the same segment, this one looks outdated. The only car-like feature is the infotainment system and some buttons, which are carried over from some of the GM's brands' cars.

There is room enough for two people and sometimes three if there is an emergency. The central armrest is big, with two cup-holders and a storage compartment. Underneath the mid-side of the bench-seat is another big storage compartment that can be used as a trunk for personal belongings to not mess them with the stuff in the bed. Overall, it's a workhorse and, in 4WD versions, could not only tow but also climb, especially if it features the Cummins diesel engine.

The 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Double cab is a great choice if someone wants room for five or six and a bed to carry loads of working materials or equipment. When it comes to a four-door pickup, the interior is usually more carefully built since most of the time is not just the working vehicle, but also the family-trip vehicle.

In the upper trim level, such as the Double cab LTZ71, the cabin looks really SUV-like with leather seats, a navigation system, and iPod connectivity. The dashboard looks outdated though even for a 2013 vehicle. The mid-life cycle update was not so obvious on the inside as on the outside.

Under the hood, the standard engine is a V8 gasoline unit but, if the owner plans to tow some heavy trailers, the 6.6-liter Duramax unit is the best choice. That is available even with an exhaust auxiliary brake system that can be enabled from a button on the center console. The 6-speed automatic transmission is fitted as standard on all the 2500 HD range.

The roomy interior also features the power rear window. It is not all the glass, but just a part in the middle of it. It can be useful if some would want to grab something stored in the bed.

Z71 also includes unique 18-inch wheels (optional on LT, standard on LTZ) and unique interior trim, including brushed metal sill plates, a technical finish on interior trim pieces and Z71 graphics on the instrument cluster.

When compare the crew cab vs. the double cab, it’s clear that the crew version offered a more spacious cabin. Of course, this does come at the expense of a bit of cargo space. This is why most private customers chose crew-cab. It did have less room in the back, but when it comes to pulling a trailer, the standard box can tow more.

Silverado 2500HD models are distinguished by a power dome-style hood, as well as a wide grille with chrome surround and full-width chrome steel front bumper. A lineup of 17- (Dually), 18- and 20-inch wheel/tire combinations are offered.

Inside, the rear seats are offering at least 991 mm (39”) legroom and a maximum of 1049 mm (41.3”), depending on the front seat position. The Crew Cab features a long list of options, depending on the trim level, with technology features including mobile WiFi, USB connectivity, Bluetooth phone connectivity, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, OnStar 9.0 and navigation. There’s also a navigation radio with CD, USB port and an 80-GB hard drive (30 GB available for music), along with heated and cooled front seats available on LTZ models.

The Crew cab is available with a long box, due to an extended wheelbase. While the standard Crew Cab had a 3.9 meter (167.7”) distance between the front and rear axle, the long box had 4.3 meters (167.7”) distance. That is more than some compact cars. In the latter version, the whole length is 6.6 meters (259.1”) compared with the standard box size version that is 6.1 meters (240.2”).

The 2013 Silverado 3500 Regular cab is the Chevy 1 ton truck and it’s all about payload and towing. The regular cab is the one to chose if the number one priority is towing and is meant to be used as a daily work vehicle. It has a robust suspension to keep it up. The long bed allows a convenient install for the fifth-wheel inside and increases the towing capacity up to 8074 kg (17800 pounds), while the conventional towing is up to 5897 kg (13000 pounds).

The Regular cab 3500 HD was available as a 2WD or 4WD and it was built to put construction equipment on a trailer and deliver it right in the middle of the construction site. On the outside, the noticeable hood with two domes along is a main feature of the front design. The multiple headlight unit is made with projector lighting.

The cab is fit for two passengers and the general look inside will show few features. But the good thing is that it took the same interior from its smaller brother, the Silverado 1500, which is more of a daily driver vehicle and less working class.

Chevrolet claims that the most demanded version is the diesel, even if it was about 10% more expensive over the gasoline sticker price vehicle. The 6.6-liter Duramax unit comes with enough torque to pull a house and, thanks to the engine braking system, it saves the brake pads.

Moreover, the truck offers a payload capacity of up to 7,222 pounds (3,276 kg), providing ample capability for carrying cargo.

The innovative technology of the truck is represented by the presence of a trailer sway control system instills an additional level of assurance while towing a trailer. This advanced system is designed to detect instances of trailer swaying and to take necessary action, such as engaging the brakes or reducing engine power, to regain control of the trailer and ensure it stays on its intended course.

When a trailer is connected to the truck's standard wiring harness, the system utilizes electric trailer brakes, requiring no intervention from the driver to optimize its performance.

The Silverado also introduces various ingenious features to improve performance and efficiency. Notably, it incorporates an exhaust brake system that enables controlled vehicle slowdown on downhill slopes without needing to engage the brakes.

Additionally, the optimized combustion and after-treatment processes extend the distance between diesel particulate filter regenerations to around 700 miles, marking a 75-percent improvement compared to previous systems and resulting in improved fuel efficiency. Furthermore, the Silverado has biodiesel capability as an alternative fueling option.

The exterior design of the Silverado 3500 HD Double Cab reflects its rugged nature. It features a bold and muscular appearance, with a chrome-accented grille and prominent fender flares. The truck is available with a variety of bed options, including standard and long beds, to accommodate different cargo needs.

In terms of accessibility, the Silverado features a CornerStep bumper that, along with built-in handholds on the new box rail protectors, facilitates easier access to the truck's box.

With its more than capable engine, durable construction, spacious cabin, and advanced safety features, it provides a reliable and comfortable solution for those who require a competent and dependable workhorse.

Chevrolet announced a new generation for the Silverado lineup in December 2012 for the 2014 model year, and customers could get it in the tough and ready-to-haul 3500HD version.

There were many pickup trucks on the market claiming that they could tow and haul heavy items, but not all of them could compete with the rugged Silverado 3500HD. Its dual wheels at the back and the sturdy chassis made it more suitable for those jobs than most of its competitors. In addition, General Motors made the big and heavy-duty pickup available with a few features more commonly seen in luxury cars than in blue-collar vehicles. GM did that because it noticed that the Silverado was no longer used just to haul bulldozers on trailers but also big boats and RVs by families, and they asked for more comfort than just a bench and fan on the dash.

Chevrolet made the third generation of the Silverado with a new front fascia that showed twin headlamps on each side fitted with projector beams and corner-mounted turn signals. There were upper and lower rectangular pieces of chromed trims that formed the main grille and sported the bow-tie badge in the middle, connecting them. The Silverado 3500HD sported a power dome-style hood with a louvered design. On the lower bumper, depending on the grade, the automaker added a set of fog lamps on the outer corners. Furthermore, a skid plate was available underneath the bumper, protecting the engine and the transmission.

From its sides, the Silverado 3500HD Crew Cab was instantly recognizable due to its angular-shaped wheel arches. Their straight cuts were unique in the segment. Depending on the grade, the vehicle featured black or chromed door handles and side steps under the sills to help with ingress and egress from the cabin. The bed featured enlarged quarter panels that made room for the dual-wheel system, which was required for vehicles with such a high payload ability. In the back, Chevrolet installed in-bumper steps that helped customers reach inside the bed if they needed to. As an option, they could get it with a fifth wheel or just a regular hook.

Chevrolet made the 3500HD Crew Cab available in three grades: WT, LT, and LTZ. While the base model featured just a manual AC unit, the upper trim levels were available with dual-zone climate control. Bluetooth was available for the entire range and standard for the LTZ. At the front, the automaker installed a standard split-folding (40/20/40) bench seat for the WT and LT, while the LTZ was fitted with bucket seats. The bow-tie brand also offered several packages that made life onboard easier for its customers, and that included leather seats, a power-operated sunroof, and a power rear window.

Under the hood, Chevrolet installed a choice of two V8 engines: a 6.0-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline and a 6.6-liter turbo diesel. Both versions were paired with a six-speed Allison automatic gearbox that sent power to the rear or in all corners since the Silverado 3500HD Crew Cab was available either as a 4x2 or a 4x4 affair.

Chevrolet made its way with the Silverado range with a cab for two in the world of hard-working pickups, named Regular-cab.

True, the Ford F150 was the market leader, and there were slim chances that anyone could take its crown. But both GM and Chrysler had something to offer on the same segment and forced the blue-oval brand to upgrade its best-selling vehicle continually. In 2006, Chevrolet introduced the second generation of the Silverado as a 2007 model year. It was available in three cab versions and four wheelbases.

The front fascia was the same for cab versions, with a wide chromed horizontal slat in the middle of the grille for the LT trim levels, supporting the bow-tie badge. For the LTZ trim level, that bar and the bumper were in body color. The Regular-cab Cab featured two regular doors and two bed sizes: a 5.75' (1752 mm) and a 6.5' (3023 mm).

Inside, Chevrolet Silverado Regular-cab offered two seats and a basic interior fitted for a work-truck. For the upper trim levels, it featured leather-seats and wood-trims on the dash. Like most of the pickup-trucks on the market, it offered a big instrument cluster and a steering-column mounted gear-selector for the automatic transmission.

The manufacturer offered the Silverado Crew Cab with a choice of four engines paired as standard to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. It was available with a rear or 4WD.

After eight years of production, Silverado came on the market with a completely new generation in 2006 as a 2007 model.

It's true that Ford was still leading the pickup market and kept increasing its leading position, but that didn't mean that Chevrolet had to throw the towel. The second generation of the Silverado came on the market in 2007, trying to prove that it can do better than its predecessor. Unfortunately, the timing was bad due to the world economic crisis and the first few years were not good for the bow-tie brand and its parent company.

Like its predecessor, the Silverado was available in a few body versions, starting with a chassis-cab and going up to the big crew-cab version. The front fascia was the same for all of them, with a wide chromed horizontal slat in the middle of the grille for the LT trim levels, supporting the bow-tie badge. For the LTZ trim level, that bar and the bumper were in body color. The Extended Cab version featured a pair of doors at the front and sway doors in the back. The bed in the back was available in three sizes of 5.75' (1752 mm), 6.5' (1981 mm), and 8' (2438 mm) on three different wheelbases.

Inside, Chevrolet Silverado offered up to five seating positions, with enough room for the front occupants and decent sized for the rear ones. Like most of the pickup-trucks on the market, it offered a big dashboard, with a steering-column mounted gear-selector for the automatic transmission.

The manufacturer offered the Silverado with a choice of four engines paired as standard to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. It was available either as a 2WD or 4WD.
