Designed for tracks and sold for road-use to obtain the FIA homologation, the GT2 RS was the most powerful 911 car offered by the German car-maker in 2017.

The GT2 RS was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the U.K. It looked wild. The flat and low apron featured a big center grille and two side intakes big enough to serve as torpedo launchers. On the hood, two additional air-intakes were installed. A set of extracting vents were placed on top of the front fenders and in the back, a big adjustable wing completed the aerodynamic kit. Two big, round, exhausts punched through the rear apron, which featured additional mesh-grilles. Most of the aerodynamic enhancements were made out of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), the same material used in motorsports.

Inside, the GT2 RS a special design for the carbon-fiber race-inspired bucket seats in the front, while behind them a roll-cage filled the space. There was no infotainment system. A three-spoke steering wheel with aluminum paddle shifters mounted behind it enhanced the racing cockpit. The instrument cluster featured four dials with a light-gray background for the centrally mounted tachometer.

The technological side of the car was a masterpiece signed by Porsche Motorsport Department. The 3.8-liter flat-six engine from the regular Porsche Turbo S was heavily modified. The turbochargers were replaced by larger ones, the intercooler received a water-spray automatic system to help to cool the air. The result was a monster 700 hp unit paired to a 7-speed PDK (dual-clutch) automatic gearbox that sent the power to the rear wheels. The rear-axle steering was fitted as standard.
