At the same time as the launch of the new AMG E43 sedan, Mercedes-AMG also showed the station wagon version. Same technology inside, same number of seats but more storage room. The station wagon bodywork tries to hide the fast vehicle under the skin but it can't. At least not too much.

The front bumper comes with three big air vents that are needed to cool the engine and feed the twin-turbo V6. On the side, the 19” light-alloy wheels are exposing the 360 mm (14.2in) large brake discs both in the front and in the rear. Not to mention that the front ones are cross-drilled.

The double exhausts are covered by some fake-chromed tips, which are suggesting that there are some real tailpipes behind them.

Inside the cabin, there are not too many differences between the sedan and the station wagon. It has the same TFT display in front of the driver with a central infotainment system. The widescreen cockpit with a high-resolution, multifunction double color display can be individually configured and has its own AMG graphics.

Since it is a station wagon, Mercedes-AMG decided to upgrade the air-suspension system. On top of the one installed in the sedan, this one has another function, which allow the vehicle to keep the same ground clearance and stance, regardless of the load in the trunk.

On the performance side, the same 401 hp bi-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine is installed under the hood. It's paired with the same transmission and delivers similar performance, just a little bit slower. The E43 AMG 4MATIC station wagon can do a 0 to 100 kph (0-62mph) sprint in 4.7 seconds.
