The small SUV Lincoln MKC was unveiled in 2013 at the Los Angeles Auto Show as a concept car and the sales for the series model started in 2014.

Lincoln needed to move fast and return on the luxury market. Since the customers started to look more often for SUVs, it came with the MKC. The vehicle was based on the same platform with Ford Escape/Kuga. It was a big effort to bring back the Lincoln brand into public attention and stop the decline of sales and image.

On the outside, the MKC featured a wing-design for the front grille, with the headlights extended from their tips. Below, a wide opening in the front bumper was extended from side to side. Additional air-intakes were installed. In the back, the taillights were linked together by a red bar across the tailgate. Dual exhaust was added for a final touch of performance-inspired vehicles.

Inside, the luxury vehicle came alive with innovative dashboard design. The instrument cluster was classic, with two large dials. On the side, there were five buttons to control the gearbox. No more gear-stick. On the center stack, there was the 8” touchscreen for the infotainment unit. The sound system was enhanced by THC and to control the media, Lincoln added the MyLincoln Touch system, which was compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Under the hood, the MKC featured a choice of two turbocharged four-pot engines. The base version featured a 2.0-liter unit while the other option was a 2.3-liter. The former was offered with 2WD while the all-wheel-drive system was optional. The more powerful version was fitted as standard with all-wheel-drive. The adaptive dampers system was fitted as standard as well as the 6-speed automatic gearbox.
