GMC Envoy 2001-2007 Photos, engines & full specs

Replacing the Jimmy in the GMC lineup, the GMC Enoy was a more luxurious SUV that offered more room, more power and lots of new features.

Based on the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, the GMC Enoy was available as a single 4-door body style and a choice of 2- or 4-wheel drive.

A single engine option was available, the Enoy being driven by a 4.2-liter unit that developed 270 hp and 275 pound-feet of torque. If fuel consumption was something one could ignore, the Envoy was an amazing vehicle.

Getting into the Envoy’s cabin, the occupants would had enjoyed great leg and should room. The trunk was also a good size and was equipped with a net to store smaller items. The cabin itself featured lots of storage spaces.

All controls were intuitively placed and easy to use, however, the comfortable seats did not offer great support.

With a dash mounted knob, the driver could easily switch between 2WD or 4WD, as well as high or low range 4WD.

While transfer case allowed for seriously rugged use, the low tail pipes and the low side steps were a bit difficult to deal with.

The Envoy was a practical vehicle - lighter items could be loaded into the trunk without without opening the trunk lid. The flip-up windows ensured easy access.

With the most equipped trim level, the Envoy could feature a self-levelling air suspension to keep the car level regardless of the load.

Besides the daytime running lights and the automatic headlights, the Envoy could also be equipped with a headlights washer system, fog lights, cornering lights, turn signal indicators, heated exterior mirrors, a dual zone automatic climate control system, steering mounted controls and rear seat climate and sound control.
