Rumor: BMW X4 M Might Not See Daylight

It seems like BMW is looking for the most profitable endeavors only nowadays. At least that's what you'd understand from what some officials say when they are talking to press members at various events.
One such statement was given by Bernard Ederer, BMW Product Communications Manager for CarAdvice at the launch of the brand new BMW F15 X5, in Vancouver, Canada. When asked about a possible BMW X4 M, his answer was rather interesting:

“The question is what customers are we talking to? And are we talking to someone that is [currently] willing and able to afford [an X6M]? It is a little bit selfish, as it is not always about what a number of customers would like but what for us is the best business opportunity.”

That could mean a couple of things. For now, all we can say is that it seems like the X4 M might take away some of the customers for the X6 M and therefore would be a bad move to make right now.

We can understand that, as the X6 M will be the last car in the BMW line-up that is still based on an old platform, in relatively no time at all. With the launch of a new SAC (Sports Activity Coupe), the aging X6 will have problems getting sold.

However, in the future, we think that an X4 M will not only show up, but it will be a great success. It will be smaller and more agile than its bigger brother, therefore a better driver's car. Once the new X6 will be launched, expect the X4 M to show up as well.
