BMW is looking to increase their market share in Japan and already has a plan for this courageous endeavor. The first phase seems to be offering limited edition BMWs.
After launching the special edition BMW 116i Fashionista for the Japanese market a while back, the German manufacturer announced that they will be introducing a new 5 Series Exclusive Sport model.

This new, 300-units limited version 5er will be dubbed 523 and will come in 4 models: the 523i, 523i Touring, 523d and 523d Touring. All versions will be using 2-liter engines, the N20 petrol one and the N47 diesel one. At the moment we don't know the exact power and torque numbers but they are expected to be a bit higher than the 520i and 520d (184 HP).

The new Exclusive Sport models will be differentiated from the rest of the 5ers by the selection of optional equipment like the M Sport exterior and interior packages and the exclusive exterior colors like Carbon-Black.

The interior will be featuring new color combinations. The seats, parts of the door panels and lower section of the dashboard will be covered in Cinnamon Brown leather while the black piano trim will feature an "exclusive sport" plaque.

The prices for this new, limited-edition model will range from $72,200 to 75,200 (€55,200 to €57,500).
