Starting with May 6, the Saratoga Automotive Museum will showcase BMW’s rich heritage and history in an exhibition called “BMW – The Ultimate Driving Machine”. The exhibition will run until November 3 2013.
“This exhibition at the Saratoga Automotive Museum will provide visitors a great look at BMW’s long heritage and provide a sense of how the company has evolved to become the leading premium automobile and motorcycle manufacturer in the world. It will also show just how integral motorsports has been throughout the company’s history,” said Ludwig Willisch – President and CEO of BMW of North America.
The event will showcase classic cars like the prewar 328, the 507 Roadster and the BMW Z8. Also among the cars that will be featured at this display of BMW art will be the car that actually put BMW on the US cars scene: the 2002 and the 2002tii.
The car that actually made selling BMWs in America possible, the 3.0CSL will be included in the line-up thanks to Scott Hughes. In 1975, after the 3.0CSL won the 12 Hours of Sebring BMW of North America was founded as a subsidiary of BMW.
Also present in the line-up we’ll be seeing M models starting with the second generation 5 Series that was the first M car available on the US market. The 2-wheeled heritage will also be present at Saratoga with a number of classic BMW Motorcycles.
“This exhibit looks to be one of the best we’ve ever had at the Museum,” said Museum Chairman Charlie Montano. “ Working with BMW to create this one of a kind auto experience in upstate New York was thrilling,” continued Exhibit Committee Chair Alan Rosenblum. Exhibit Committee member Bob Bailey added “Both BMW of North America and our local dealer, Keeler Motor Car have contributed hours of time, effort and resources to make this a reality”.
