We all love the 1M Coupe. Unfortunately the last one of the limited 6,331 units produced was delivered just earlier this month. That means you can no longer buy a 1M from BMW. You might get one though, if anyone is crazy enough to sell it.
We love the agility of the 1M, the way it moves around the race track and the way it keeps on surprising us with incredible lap times. The thing is though, that in a drag race, power, weight and traction are all that matter. Most importantly power and how you manage it.

That's why, the outcome of this video will not be a surprise. Let's see how the 2 cars stack up: the 1M has a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine with 340 HP and 450 Nm of torque (500 Nm with overboost) while the M6 has the famous S63 twin-turbo 4.4-liter engine, developing 560 HP and 680 Nm of torque. Clear advantage for the M6.

The 1M might win some point on weight, the 1M being 429 kg lighter than the M6. That means that the 1M has a power to weight ratio of 234 HP/tone while the M6 has a power to weight ratio of 290 HP/tone. Another win goes to the M6.

The numbers show it clearly. The M6 will win a drag race, especially from a rolling start. How about a drag race from a standstill? Well, if the driver of the M6 would've lost control of the car at the start line, the M1 might've had a chance but since that never happened, we must give the M6 (and its driver) the respect it deserves.
