Toyota Hybrid Crossovers and Some Lexus Models Recalled
text size: A- A+
About 133,000 Lexus RX 400h and Toyota Highlander hybrid models are being called back due to some faulty transistors in their drivetrain inverter system. The problem occurs when they overheat from variations in their parallel circuits, problem that can make some warning lights pop on the dashboard and reduce the on-road functionality of the vehicles. In severe cases, the fault can even stop the vehicle. The issue targets Highlanders made between 2006 - 2010 and RX 400h built from 2006 to 2008.
The other recall affects three Lexus sedan models - IS 350, IS 350C and GS 350 - due to faulty bolts that hold the variable timing control device in place. They were discovered to become loose due to vibrations. Being a precision part, any movement of the variable timing control device can make the engine run abnormally and even make it stop.
Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by first-class mail.
