Toyota Camry Will Retain US Sales Crown, Says Exec
Speaking at the J.P. Morgan Auto Conference in New York, Carter said Toyota will sell more than 400,000 Camrys by the end of the year, which should be enough to stay ahead of Honda’s Accord model. “The mid-size sedan market is the largest segment in the industry, and we want Toyota to be America’s favorite car - period,” he added.
Toyota Camry sales grew 16 percent last month to more than 242,000 examples delivered between January and July, about 24,000 units more compared to the Honda Accord and 45,000 to the Nissan Altima. Placed fourth in the mid-size segment, the Ford Fusion is nearly 61,000 examples behind the Camry.
