Lexus ES 350 To Be Produced in Kentucky
Currently assembling the Toyota Camry, Camry Hybrid, Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Venza and manufacturing 4-cylinder and V6 engines, the plant will make the first ever Lexus to be assembled in US starting with 2015.
In a recent report, Toyota announced that the plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, will receive a $360 million investment in order to be upgraded and start assembling the Lexus ES 350 model in about two years from now.
“Today’s Lexus ES announcement further strengthens Toyota’s commitment to serving American consumers, growing American production and investing in American team members,” said Jim Lentz, Toyota’s chief executive officer for North America.
The new branch of the assembly plant will also create 750 new jobs in order to produce the 50,000 units per year estimated target.
