How to Use a Toyota Tire Repair Kit [Video]
Well, those times are fading away slowly, as most carmakers delivers their vehicles with tire repairing kits, both to save weight and to spare you the ordeal of changing one. As these kits are somehow new to the industry and you’ve probably never need to use one, the following tutorial will show you how to safely make use of a repair kit that equips the new Toyota Auris. Don’t worry, they should be the same for all Toyota vehicles.
Say that you’ve noticed you are driving with a flat tire. Reduce your speed and find the closest space to pull over your vehicle. Put the car in Park or activate the parking brake to secure the vehicles position. Then, go see if the flat tire is repairable. Don’t use the repair kit on punctures bigger than 4mm (0.15 inch) in diameter or if the tire rim is damaged. Also, don’t do it on a tire that has been flat or used on a low pressure for long periods.
If your flat tire meets the requirements, locate and get the repairing kit, usually found under the false boot floor. It has two components: a special bottle with sealant and an electric compressor. Fit the bottle’s hose securely to your tire’s valve and then attach the compressor’s hose to the bottle’s special valve. Turn on the compressor and let it run for about 10 minutes. Now the tire should hold until you get to a service station. Drive carefully though!
