As flamboyant as a two-seat convertible – or roadster, as you guys call it – might look for a pretty lady like me, there are a quite a few things which would keep me from driving a Nissan 370Z on a regular basis. And this is no matter who would have bought it for me.
First of all, I think I've mentioned this in several other test drives, I'm not a fan of the color black. Yeah, I know it's not an actual color, but you get my point. Many people like black or at least dark cars because the ambient light can play with some of their car's curves, making it look better from certain angles.
I hate black paint jobs because they get dirty at about a minute after I exit a car wash. On top of that, certain black cars actually look like a demon on wheels. Take the Nissan 370Z, for example. Those squinty headlights already look mean, while those two fang-like intrusions in the front grille look plain scary. Why does it need to be painted like this, then? Wouldn't red or orange look better, and most of all, make the car look a bit... happier?
Don't even get me started on the interior. Those leather-engulfed seats are also black, the same as the steering wheel and the center console. BDSM thoughts anyone? It's like they took the suit off of a gimp and put it on the seats.
Unless always driving with the top down, the interior ambiance is that of a funeral. Not to mention the fact that from the outside, with the roof down the car looks like an aerodynamic coffin, for crying out loud!
No way, as much as I like convertibles, and no matter how much I liked the vibrations coming from the engine at full throttle, this "Z" is not for me. No way Jose! You should maybe try going to an undertaker with it!
