Yeah, I'm not exactly the biggest fan of French cars. Or cars coming from the French school of car making, as I like to call them. The DS3 on the other hand might prove to be a different kind of story. After all, it has a German engine under the hood, doesn't it? At least that's what I found out after knocking a few times on the hood.
I can't say I'm much fond of its looks, since the car appears to be more suited for a girl rather than a guy from this point of view. Something a seventeen year old jailbait would drive instead of a Mini or a New Beetle. Heh, kids these day...
Anyway, the DS3 actually doesn't seem all that bad, as a car I mean. The engine is technically one half of a V8, so it's very small and efficient. Efficient doesn't translate as slow though, since the DS3 can outrun a number of more powerful cars. I really like the mid-range punch it has, especially since it's combined with a lot of low-end torque as well, despite using a turbocharger.
The evil Barbie looks kill every chance it would have to be sold in the Southern states of America though. This is a small sub-compact car after all. It can only work in areas full of those young urban professional hippies or as a present at a super sweet sixteen party.
I'm neither a sixteen year old girl, nor am I an urban metrosexual with too much gel in my hair, so I can't say the Citroen DS3 would be too appropriate for me as a daily driver, despite the fact that it's not your average French car (which I kind of hate, by the way). Ah well, better luck next time Citroen!
