1998 Slips a spot in the Rally Argentina standings, ranking 4th overall in the F2 class. Keeps competing in national events also.
1999 Villagra feels the taste of success for the first time, as he finally wins a rally events: Argentina's '24 Hours Rally'.
2001 Continues to improve his form and becomes new South American champion in the Group N4 class.
2002 - 2003 After becoming one of the most respected rally drivers in South America, it's time for Federico to dominate the Argentine Rally Championship also. Therefore, wins back-to-back titles in the Group N class of the ARC.
2004 Federico doesn't settle just for the Group N4 title, but wants the overall crown of the Argentine Rally Championship. The 35-year old wins his first Argentine title in career, while also sweeping the competitions in the Chilean Championship.
2005 Returns to Group N of the Argentine Rally Championship and wins his 3rd title in career.
2006 Wins his first WRC event in Group N, partnering Diego Curletto in Rally Argentina (12th place overall, on a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII)
2007 Wins another WRC event in Group N class, still in Argentina (with the same Diego Curletto, on a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX). Soon after that, Munchi's Ford World Rally Team gives him the opportunity to run selected events in the WRC, on a Ford Focus RS WRC 06. Best result of the season is a 7th place in Japan.
2008 Another part-time WRC schedule sees the Argentine make 4 appearances inside the Top 8 throughout the 2008 season. Makes the scoreboard for 3 consecutive times in the first half of the season - 7th place in Mexico and 6th places in Argentina and Jordan - while also ranking 8th in New Zealand later on. Ends the season ahead of the Suzuki official duo, Per-Gunnar Andersson and Toni Gardemeister.
