2005 Competes in the Menards Infiniti Pro Series and ranks 10th in overall classification. Takes 3 wins and 3 poles in the championship in only 6 starts. Also, ranks 5th in the Star Mazda Championship.
2006 Début in the IndyCar Series. Wins the Infineon Raceway event and becomes youngest driver ever to win a major open-wheel series race. Manages an incredible run at the Indianapolis 500, where he finishes the race in 2nd place. Also takes Rookie of the Year honors.
2007 Disappointing second season for Marco inside IndyCar Series. Fails to win a single race in 2007, highlighting two podiums at Iowa Speedway and Michigan International Speedway (both 2nd places) en route to 11th in the Overall Standings. Ranks outside the Top 10 drivers in most of the championship events (on 11 occasions, to be precise).
2008 Advances to 7th place in the driver point standings, right after AGR teammate Danica Patrick. Becomes the youngest driver ever to score a pole in the IndyCar Series - at Milwaukee - and highlights a runner-up place in the season opener, at Homestead. Scores consistent Top 5s throughout the season (7) and completes 3rd consecutive improved campaign inside the IndyCar Series. Also, debuts for A1 Team USA in the A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport, at Chengdu - scoring an 8th place in the Feature Race.
