With only a few weeks remaining until two of the biggest annual motorcycle exhibits, more bike makers are teasing their upcoming products. We recently had a closer look at Honda’s brand new X-ADV crossover scooter, but now it’s the time we get a glimpse of what Yamaha is planing for 2017. And we might be in for a new YZF-R6...

Yamaha recently released a teaser video of it’s upcoming new motorcycle. The clip doesn’t reveal much, and you can barely get a glimpse of the said bike. But judging on the rider’s position, the fact that it happens on a circuit (looks like Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Southern California) and the soundtrack provided by a high-revving four-cylinder engine, we can only guess it’s the new Yamaha YZF-R6.

The clip ends with a date which makes us believe the new bike will be officially unveiled on October 4 at the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. So stick around for more information if you’re not planing getting there.

It makes sense to unveil a new generation Yamaha R6 now. The model received a minor facelift in 2010, but it remained mostly untouched since 2008. There aren’t any details about the new model, but we’re expecting to inherit some of the features on the R1 flagship.

This means an aggressive angular design, probably with some exposed frame bits, split headlight, LED stoplights, a crossplane-crank engine, upgraded adjustable suspension as well as multiple driving modes. ABS will also be offered standard in Europe, where regulations make the safety device mandatory.

Speaking about Europe, new supersport bike sales have dropped for the last couple of years on the market and it will be nice to see what impact will the possible new R6 make there. It seems like every other third bike you meet on a Euro road is a big BMW Adventure model.
