Yamaha ups the ante once more with the unveiling of the 2014 Viking VI, an updated version of the old SxS, but now offering room for 6 occupants. This uber-SxS is now even more convenient for larger teams who have to work in remote areas and which are separated from paved roads by sectors of very rough terrain. And if the 6-person capacity doesn’t seem enough, the all-new Viking VI also comes with a stamped steel dump bed for carrying gear, tools, work-related materials and so much more.
The 2014 Viking VI is powered by a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected SOHC 4-stroke engine. It is mated to an Ultramatic transmission with dual Hi/Lo range drive, and an automatic sprang clutch for all-wheel downhill engine braking. The operator can easily select from the three options the on-command 4WD system offers: 2WD, limited-slip 4WD and fully locked differential 4WD.

Given the capacity of this SxS, it’s no wonder the wheelbase got bigger, reaching 115.6 inches (293 cm) and the steel chassis rolls on independent double-wishbone suspensions with 8.1” (20.5cm) travel and the 11.4” (29cm) ground clearance adds to the great terrainability. Each of the 12” wheels comes with shaft drive and a hydraulic disc brake providing dependable stopping power.

The wet weight of the 2014 Yamaha Viking VI is 1,620 lbs (733 kg) and this includes the 9.7-gallon (36.7-liter) fuel tank. The bed can accommodate up to 6000 lbs (271 kg) of luggage, while the towing capacity of this amazing beast reaches a nifty 1,500 lbs (679 kg).

Yamaha will be offering the 2014 Viking VI in a base version for $12,799 (€9,980) and $13,599 (€9,965) for the Realtree Camo version, but power steering-equipped versions will also be in the line-up: the EPS, with prices starting at $13,799 (€10,110) and the EPS Special Edition, offered for a base price of $14,999 (€10,990). Yamaha also offers a very wide range of both aesthetic and functional accessories, as well as professional add-one for the new Viking VI SxS

The first models will become available from July 2014.
