Yamaha will recall some 2009 YZF-R6 bikes in Canada, but the exact number of vehicles potentially affected by the mechanical problem was not specified at the time of writing.
CMG reports that some of these supersport machines have been equipped with Ohlins steering dampers whose mounting brackets my develop cracks and fail operating properly.

Since there was no mention about the steering dampers themselves, it looks like the bracket is the weak link in the whole affair.

Yamaha will notify customers and supply them with correctly-manufactured replacement mounting brackets.

It looks like the remedy for this issue does not require extensive mechanical skills, and is an operation riders with a minimal engineering knack could do it at home.
