It looks like Yamaha will finally take their first step in the 3-wheelers' world, as a vehicles called LMW (Leaning Multi-Wheeler) is rumored to be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year.
The name is a bit too pretentious, we'd say, especially as Yamaha are rather late to the 3-wheeled party. The "Multi" stands for "3" but we guess they thought it was only too common.
When we heard about "multi-wheeler" we got chills down the spine, as we hoped the Tuning Forks would finally make a production version of their leaning 4-wheeler, the Tesseract, pictured below. It just wasn't meant to be, even thought it looks like the LMW will benefit from the technologies the Tesseract promised.
Less radical than the leaning quad, the LMW promises a more sporty character, if we are to believe Yamaha. We might get to see a production-ready version at the EICMA, and this means the LMW will arrive as a 2014 model. Sporty leaning 3-wheeled scooters... Yamaha may have found a niche here, and the rumored $10k (€7,780) price is somewhere between “expensive” and “worth a try”.
