World's First Portable EV Charging Unit Now Available

It’s the equivalent of carrying a canister of gasoline in the trunk of your petrol-powered car - the emergency EV power supply which you can take with you anywhere, has been developed by a Charging Solutions, a British company, and it is mainly designed for fleet use, as well as vehicle rescue, for those cars which have run out of juice close to their destinations.

How close to their destinations? Well, there are two versions of the charger available for purchase, a standard one, which can give a Nissan Leaf (for instance) 24 (15) more kilometers (miles) of driving, and a ‘deluxe’ version which can give the Leaf as much as 56 Km (35 miles) worth of extra range.

It achieves this using an on-board lithium-ion battery packs with 4kW or 10 kW of stored power, being able to recharge the Leaf’s battery at a rate of 1.6 Km (1 mile) every 3 minutes. The 2013 Leaf, which gets the upgraded 6.6kW on-bard charger, can receive current three times as quickly, at 1.6 km (1 mile) per minute.

The practicality of the EVRescue charger is further boosted by the fact that it can be used as a regular charger for personal use, if plugged into a normal wall socket, at home. It is currently compatible with the aforementioned Nissan Leaf, as well as the Chevy Volt and Ford Focus EV. Pricing info isn't available, but you can get a quote on the official site, charging-solutions.com.
