Who doesn’t love Scooby-Doo? The talking Great Dane with an appetite is one of the biggest hits of Hanna-Barbera, together with productions like Tom & Jerry and The Flintstones. However, not every Scooby-Doo fan out there is on the side of good. The lady in the mugshot and her Chrysler minivan-based Mystery Machine are a case in point.
Imagine that we’re in Redding, California. It’s a Sunday afternoon and everything is horribly meh because it’s pouring outside. You’re in traffic, waiting for the lights to turn green. All of a sudden, a Chrysler Town & Country from the 1990s with Mystery Machine livery and with a wanted person behind the wheel drives by you. You’re telling yourself “What a cool van,” but lights start flashing and the sirens fire up.
You don’t know what’s happening. But the Redding Police knows what’s happening. The driver is 51-year-old Sharon Kay Turman, a woman wanted for a probation violation. Because of the violation, police started pursuit as soon as the offender was identified in the area of California Street and Shasta Street.
According to the Redding Police Department, the woman drove the Mystery Machine look-alike with seating for the entire gang at speeds “in excess of 100 miles per hour.” That equals 160 km/h for our European audience, which is a velocity I personally deem scary for a minivan. The thing is, Turman didn’t just floor it. She also proceeded through junctions against the red light, showing “a blatant disregard for motorist safety.”
Redding Police lost her heading south on Highway 273. Then a helicopter of the California Highway Patrol came and located Turman. It didn’t matter though because the lady fled once again, proceeding southbound on 273 then turning onto Interstate 5. Unfortunately, the cops lost her. Eventually, Turman abandoned the vehicle in Tehama Country. Police impounded the Mystery Machine, but Turman is still on the run and her whereabouts are not known. With a bit of luck, the vigilante in you can solve this mystery.
Provided that you see the woman in the mugshot, call the Redding Police at (530) 225-4200.
