Wiesmann Roadster MF5 Debuts in Frankfurt

German manufacturer Wiesmann announced today the world debut of the hand-crafted sports car Roadster MF5 at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show in September. With a price tag set at 189,500 euros, the MF5 will be built in limited numbers – only 55 units - as all cars in its class.

The MF5 is powered by a BMW V10 engine, delivering 507 hp and 520 Nm of torque. It allows the Roadster to reach 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and can make it go all the way to 310 km/h (193 mph).

To give the car (and driver) the necessary road handling, the MF5 has a special designed suspension set-up for stability, extendable wing for better handling and torsion-resistant aluminum monocoque with integrated side-impact protection in case something doesn't go as planned. Addtitionally, the occupants are protected by dual stage driver and passenger airbags, ABS and DSC.

"Wild animals running free are fascinating to watch, as they can develop their instincts to the full. Without any barriers they can develop their strength, elegance and speed under the open sky. As it is only freedom and a connection to the elements that releases that enormous energy from within. Then jump in, open the roof of your Roadster MF5 and show that strength, elegance and speed. That is, after all, just how your instinct wants it," Wiesmann describes the MF5 in a very poetic way.

In late July, the GT version of the Wiesmann MF5 and powered by the same engine managed to replace Porsche 911 GT3 at the top of the LUK Driving Center record holders list, managing a lap time of 1:06:60, with track-test operator Patric Simon behind the wheel.
