Why the Huracan Doesn’t Have Lambo Doors like the Aventador

In case you aren’t as much as a a Prancing Horse fan as to ignore any Lamborghini-related matter, you’ve probably noticed Sant’Agata Bolognese likes to keep its famous Lambo doors reserved for its V12 models. Have you ever wondered why this happens?

Of course, the obvious reason has to do with drawing attention. Lamborghinis have always been more about the show than anything else and the scissor doors are a sweet icing on their cake.

As a quick reminder, an Aventador costs about 50 percent more than a Huracan and when you pay at least 100 grand extra, you want to have your exclusivity.

Nevertheless, there’s more to the V12-only scheme than that. Practicality is also a key aspect here. As we found out during our Huracan review, this is, by far, the most practical car Lamborghini has ever made. To put things in a different perspective, it’s the first Raging Bull you can drive on a daily basis. You’ll have to make compromises, but, unlike the Aventador or the Gallardo, the daily driver stuff is possible.

Well, while those scissor doors may be cool to look at, they’re a bit too much for everyday driving. Sure, they do offer the advantage of requiring a smaller parking space, but they’re certainly not the easiest to operate.

Different cars, different customers

Then there’s the different mentality of the clientele. This might not always apply, but the V10 people usually seek a more usable approach, even if this sounds a little ridiculous when talking about a Lamborghini.

The V10 models, be they the late Gallardo or the Huracan, sell in much greater numbers - while the Gallardo managed to convince 14,000 customers in a decade of presence on the market, the Huracan has already racked up 3,000 orders in just ten months.

The bottom line is that if you happen to own a Lamborghini with conventional doors, you have enough reasons to be happy with that.
