Analyst Jonathon Poskitt has declared in the report that "with comparable selling days in most cases in the region, many markets were up on July 2013, with Germany performing particularly well. Registrations remain on track for a solid full year expansion for 2014, with further growth forecast in the next few years on the back of ongoing economic recovery."

The overall 2013 versus 2014 difference in vehicles sold in the month stands at almost 50,000 cars, with the biggest climb posted by the biggest new car market on the continent. Compared to the 253,146 cars sold in July 2013, German motorists bought 270,249 cars the former month. The most dramatic year-on-year change happened in Ireland, the market that saw a difference of 61.8 percent (11,603 vs. 18,776 new vehicles moved).

As for the worst performer of the lot, France has seen a 4.3 percent drop in new car sales compared to July 2013. From the beginning of the year to July, Western Europe bought no less than 7,390,661 new vehicles, a pretty encouraging 5.4 percent increase over the 7,011,992 cars sold the same period last year.
