The Maserati GranTurismo S is not one of the fastest cars in its price bracket, and you can go a lot faster for less. However, it is arguably one of the best looking cars you can buy at any price, and also one of the best sounding V8 cars you can buy.
The source of all that rumble? A 4,691cc V8 engine, which puts out 440 hp, for the S model. If you`ve ever seen and heard one in real life, you will definitely know the noise it makes, and how it makes your eardrums vibrate.
Just have a listen to the car in this video, shot on the streets of Monaco, courtesy of NM2255, both at night and during the day. There`s even a short clip of the car being accelerated hard in the famous tunnel.
We posted this as a reminder that the engine will be going out of production, along with the current GranTurismo (we don`t know exactly when that is, though). New Masers will get V6 and V8 engines, but gone will be the naturally-aspirated growl of the current car.
We have already heard the new turbo V8, which currently powers just the all-new Quattroporte, and we must admit that for what it is, it sounds great and a lot better than other similar motors. Still, the 4.7-liter V8 will be sorely missed when it is finally retired.
