WD-40 and SEMA Cares Preparing Custom Mustang

The WD-40 maintenance and cleaning products company is teaming up with SEMA’s charity division, SEMA Cares, to create a custom Mustang that will be showcased at the tuning event and subsequently auctioned to help children’s charities.

The project is based on the 2011 Mustang GT. The vehicle’s 5.0 liter V8 engine will be supercharged to approximately 600 hp, while the car will come with a special body kit, custom interior with a high-end entertainment system and a paint that emulates the WD-40 brand.

WD-40 and SEMA Cares are partnering with multiple aftermarket auto and technology companies that will donate parts, equipment and services for the project. The list of donations includes a custom body kit from Street Scene Equipment, Stillen AP Racing 6-piston brake kit with front calipers, Forgeline wheels and a Paxton supercharger system.

Other companies will also take part in the building process: Advanced Clutch Technology, Inc.; Audio Innovations; California Pony Cars; Cie Games; GTR High Performance; Hotchkis Suspension; Katzkin Leather; L&G Enterprises; Nitto; PPG Industries; PhotoTouch and Polk Audio.

The WD-40/SEMA Cares Mustang pays tribute to the mechanics, aftermarket professionals and auto enthusiasts who have used WD-40 for more than 50 years to get the job done," said Tim Lesmeister, vice president of marketing at WD-40 Company. "This is such a fun and meaningful project for us. We're proud that all proceeds from the sale of the vehicle will continue to support two great charities, but we know it would not be possible without the time, energy, dedication and resources of our build partners."
