Remember when we told you how awesome Lexus' hoverboard was but it has a major drawback in the sense that it's not for sale yet? Good, because it turns out some mortals have access to it.
By "some mortals" we mean Ross McGouran, professional skateboarder, who got himself a third-degree meeting with the sci-fi hoverboard.
It's pretty obvious he was brought there to confirm and reinforce what Lexus had been telling us when they first presented the hoverboard, which uses magnetic levitation to flow several inches from the ground and give the impression you're riding on pillows.
According to Lexus, the magnetic levitation effect is obtained by using liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors and permanent magnets to create a frictionless movement, while preserving their traditional Lexus spindle grille and adding bamboo inserts on the outside.
As original and exciting may riding a hoverboard turn out to be, we're wondering what the global skateboarding community would have to say. I mean, you'd be the coolest kid on the block with one of those, but what will happen with skateparks and old-school skateboarding?
Does the Lexus Hoverboard allow its rider to do a flip trick, a grind or an ollie? We guess not, but maybe Lexus has something in store for us that might be worth waiting for.
