Drag racing professional driver Ali Afshar will try to break a record May 5th at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in his beefed up 2013 Subaru BRZ.
18-time NHRA champion Ali and his team will be the first and only to race a 7 second 1/4 mile (400 m) pass down the strip in an all-wheel rear-wheel drive Subaru. The car is powered by a 2.4-liter 4 cylinder boxer engine that can produce an incredible 1400 hp. It also has all the right parts for the event, such as very wide slick wheels, a rollcage, a massive wing at the back and a wheelie-bar.
The event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be open for every driver that owns a Subaru, competing in four classes: All Motor Subaru, Street Subaru, Modified Subaru and Extreme Subaru. The gates open at 8:00 a.m and the racing begins at 9:30 a.m. Competing fee is $80 and admission is $17.
