A movie about the life of MotoGP Legend Barry Sheene is in the works, and we just can't wait to see it hit the theaters. "Sheene" is made by IO Films Australia and Deep Spring Pictures UK, and is based on Barry: The Story of Motorcycling Legend Barry Sheene, a book written by MotoGP journalists Steve Parrish and Nick Harris.
Barry Sheene is widely regarded as one of the most controversial characters in the road racing world, and learning about a production team that will document his career and life and make a biopic is simply great.
He was a two-time world champion and a very charismatic rider, but he also epitomized the spirit of the old school racers. Often referred to as the "original Grand Prix playboy," Barry Sheene was a heavy smoker and drinker, and he also liked to party a lot, while being a spectacular and keen rider.
Compared to what most Grand Prix racers are today, Sheene was a reckless, unapologetic rebel and we hope for dear life that his charisma will not be cosmeticized to suit today's so-called (socially-acceptable) standards. For example, we'd like to see the (in)famous hole in Sheene's helmet chin bar that allowed him to smoke until seconds before the start of a race!
We'd like to see Sheene evoked the way he was, with his good sides and bad sides. And we also hope that whoever is chosen to play as Barry will be able to live up to the high expectations. BS7 was a true racer and a legend, and he deserves the best there is in this biopic.

Will Sheene be a politically correct movie, or will it show the life of the great racer as it was?
It will be interesting to see how accurately the production crew will reproduce Barry's life, and we are saying this because the road racing world is so much different nowadays.Compared to what most Grand Prix racers are today, Sheene was a reckless, unapologetic rebel and we hope for dear life that his charisma will not be cosmeticized to suit today's so-called (socially-acceptable) standards.
