Watch Muscle Car Enthusiasts in Japan Go for a Night Drive in Tokyo

When so many drivers in Japan use lilliputian kei cars to avoid the rather hefty taxes, parking spot-related fees included, you wouldn’t exactly expect to find a muscle car community in, say, Tokyo. Nonetheless, we are here to show you just that, but you’ll have to be prepared for... limited numbers.
The video below gives us a pretty good at a day in the life of a small group of American metal lovers and we’re not referring to Metallica here. These guys get together after a busy day and they like to ride in their muscle car, but there’s one major difference to what we get in the US.

Given the limited numbers in which such rides are found in Japan, as well as the typical attitude of the these local drivers, you won’t see any rivalry here. Instead, they prefer to unite under the same horsepower roof and ride together. Hate for V6 engines? You must be kidding.

Another particularity, one that we’re not all that fond of, concerns the... visibility of these cars. In a style we’ve already become accustomed to, these guys have packed their cars with all sorts of lights. Oh well, at least they can back up half of Tokyo, should the city ever experience electrical issues.

The cars

Er... no, stuff like the Hellcat doesn’t appear to have made it over to the Land of the Rising Sun yet. Instead, there were two cars here that drew our attention.

One of them did this for all the right reasons, and we’re referring to the 2010 Challenger SRT8 Furious Fuschia 400 here. This is one of the only 400 units in the world that were created to celebrate four decades of Challenger hooning.

As for the second vehicle that caught our eye, this is a pre-revamp Camaro SS that’s received a color scheme that resembles the Aventador Tron we’ve seen in London. We are having second thoughts here and that’s all due to the ZL1 front bumper.

In case all this sounds a little bit familiar, it’s probably because the footage comes from Steve. Yes, that Steve who showed us how the Japanese love to adorn their Lamborghinis with tons and tons of LEDs and then cruise the streets of Tokyo.
