One of the collectable videos belonging to the great British Pathe, a collection of news film and movies fully digitised and available online created by The Pathe News, is what you’d call a auto review of Al Capone’s car. Filmed in 1933, it shows a man talking about various features of the gangster’s car, like the Police siren, bullet proof glass and police radio.

The car is a 1928 V8 Cadillac Type 341 personalized to what one of the most wanted gangsters of the time would need in his escape ride. The stock model came with a new V8 created especially for this type, a 341 cubic inches engine that could produce 90 horsepower. The same year General Motors would introduce the synchromesh transmission. However, Al Capone’s Cady was all but the stock model.

Called “Al Capone’s Killer Car” the Chicago gangster got it all armored, with bullet proof wrap which made the vehicle weigh 3 1/2 tons. The perfect car for a bootlegger, a tax dodger and a criminal, this baby had a inch-thick window glass and rear window that folds down to accommodate backseat gunmen. In fact, it was one of the first armored cars of the time and still able to be fast.

Last time the papers wrote about the famous four-door, five-passenger town sedan was two years ago, when RM Auctions sold it for $341,000, but for some reason we stumbled upon this video so we thought sharing it with you.
