Watch a Saab 900 Do 174 MPH in the Standing Mile [Video]
In stock form that is, because what we’re about to show you is not the factory Saab 900 we all know, but one that has 465 HP under its hood thanks to a Garret turbocharger and a tuned ECU. The result? The Swedish two-door reached 174 mph (280 km/h) at the Texas Standing Mile. Now that’s what we call a sleeper car.
Just for a quick comparo, other GearHead videos show beefed up musclecars like Shelby GT500 and Corvette Z06 doing the standing mile at 193.3 mph and 195 mph respectively. Check out the video below but be careful about pumping that volume up, the wind noise is pretty strong.
