"The success of the Sportline range proves that our customers still want a van that stands out from the crowd and creates a premium image," said Steve Reynolds, Head of Marketing, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, in a statement for the press.
According to Volkswagen, the Limited Edition X models will be equipped with chrome and black ‘Dakar’ alloy wheels, ‘leather pack’ (leather steering wheel and gear lever), specially designed black and blue leather seats with limited edition numbered tag, Sportline floor mats, and rear parking sensors.
The standard Transporter Sportline features include 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome grilles and side sills, leather seats and front and rear spoilers, so the changes are quite visible. All the 150 units are offered in a choice of metallic paint colours – Reflex Silver, and for the first time for the Sportline range, Shadow Blue.
Dealerships are already accepting pre-orders for the new limited edition Volkswagen vans, with the first deliveries expecting to start at the beginning of October 2009. However, you may first want to find out the pricing for the new range, which in fact is with £500 ($830) more than the equivalent Transporter Sportline T30, 174 PS, 2.5-litre TDI PD.
The basic retail prices (including metallic paint) are of £25,065 ($41,500) for the short wheelbase panel van, £25,545 ($42,300) for the long wheelbase panel van, and £26,805 ($44,400) for the kombi.
