Volkswagen today unveiled yet another interesting concept at the Worthersee GTI meet. It's called the Golf Variant Biturbo Edition and features the 240 PS engine from the Passat.
A few months ago, we reported that VW wants to join the twin-turbo 2-liter TDI with the body of the Golf R. Fans went crazy about the idea, and they're probably going to love this concept.

The most powerful diesel engine ever installed into a Golf Variant packs 240 PS and, crucially, 500 Nm of torque. This is sent out to all four wheels through the 4Motion system, which should mean 0 to 100 km/h takes under 6 seconds.

The rest of the car appears to be nearly identical to the Golf R Variant. It has the same aggressive front bumper, blue stripe in the grille, rear diffuser and even the quad exhaust system. 14 apprentices from Zwickau were the ones who stuffed more diesel into the Golf. They also changed the interior to match the personality of the car, with blue leather, brighter trim and a special headliner that we want you to discover in the gallery.

We could argue that fast estates are making a comeback because sister car SEAT made headlines yesterday with its Leon Cupra ST. It lapped the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 58 seconds, making it faster than the Audi RS6.

Following the GTI meeting, the "Biturbo Edition" will be on show at other locations, for example at the opening of an extended exhibition at the August Horch Museum in Zwickau. Hopefully, they plan to put such a car into production, because even though some fast Golfs cost over €50,000, people are buying them.

Golf Variant, Golf Variant GTD, Golf Variant R, Golf Variant GTD R... that kind of engine lineup should work great if you ask us
