VW Golf VI-based Sportec Golf SC200

Sportec today released its latest creation, the SC200, a model entirely based on Volkswagen's Golf VI 1.4-liter TSI, that comes with several enhancements in both performance and exterior/interior styling. As you can see in the adjacent photos, the car shares the same look as the sixth-generation Volkswagen Golf, with the only improvement visible from the outside being the Sportec sports exhaust. Beside the performance boost, the exhaust system also generates a sportier sound compared to the one of the stock Golf, the tuner explained.

"Although visually very similar to the original, with its heartier tone and above all lesser back pressure ensures increased capacity and optimum use of the combustion chamber," Sportec explains in a release.

But the performance generated by the 1.4-liter engine is really impressive, compared to the figures achieved by the stock unit. For example, the tweaked powerplant now brings out 200 PS and a torque of 300 Nm between 1,800 and 3,000 rpm. This means the Sportec SC200 jumps from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, while being around 3.2 seconds faster for the time needed to accelerate to 180 km/h.

In case you're wondering, fuel consumption is still in the acceptable range, in spite of the large amount of power we told you about above. However, in order to achieve the aforementioned figures, the car requires the octane richer Superplus fuel (Super series) after the engine tweaks are applied.

"In order to safely bring the increased performance onto the road Sportec also recommends fitting the sport suspension that was exclusively devised for the tuner," Sportec added.
