VW Golf 7 BlueMotion 1.6 TDI Acceleration Test [Video]
Not surprisingly though, VW's most powerful 1.6 TDI engine is no slouch. The poky engine offers 110 PS and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque, enough to take you to 100 km/h in about 11 seconds. Don't believe us? Just watch the video below and be amazed how economy car hits 90 km/h in 2nd gear. Those longer gears were fitted to make the BlueMotion more economical, and it's nice to see the owner is putting it to sporty use as well.
Besides the economy engine tuning, the BlueMotion also gets low rolling resistance tires, better aerodynamics thanks to a reduced ride height, a masked off upper grille, underbody panels to reduce drag and a set of small spoilers behind the C-pillar to improve air flow. As a result of all this, it can suck up only 3.2 liters of fuel per 100 km, equivalent to emissions of 85 grams per km.
