Created in the vein of cars such as the BAC Mono, Ariel Atom and the KTM X-Bow, the VUHL 05 has a dry weight of only 695 kg (1,532 lbs) and can be fitter with a body made out of either RTM reinforced plastic or carbon fiber (optional). Power comes from a Ford turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, which source from the Focus ST. However, the mill was upgraded to deliver 289 HP and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque, 39 more than the hatchback.
Other details revealed by company state that the VUHL 05 uses a six-speed manual gearbox, an unequal double wishbone suspension, a four-pot alloy caliper braking system, carbon bucket seats, and 17/18-inch OZ alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin tires. Orders for the sportscar can be placed as we speak, but deliveries will commence in spring 2014. UK pricing will start at, while US stickers will be announced later this year. The company is looking for ways to make the VUHL 05 available in other markets as well.
“Our background means the VjHL 05 has been developed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. We were determined to create a highly intuitive machine that was both stirringly fast and immense fun to drive – a car we ourselves would want to own. We have endeavoured to endow it with class-leading ergonomics and a contemporary silhouette of striking proportions, and the aim of uncompromising build quality has underpinned the project since day one,” said Iker Echeverria.
