Volvo to Hand Over XC90 Production to Geely
The Chinese company is planning on releasing its own version of the XC90 in 2014, after having formally ‘received’ the car on March 4th. The plan is for Geely to start their own Lexus-Infiniti-esque high end brand with the redesigned XC90 as the main component of the new sub-brand.
The launch of the Chinese XC90 will coincide with the launch of the proper, new XC90 from Volvo in 2014. The outgoing car definitely split opinions, but nobody could argue with its modular interior, 7 seats and high quality interior finish. Unfortunately, it was never particularly good off road, probably because it was underpinned by an old American sedan.
