Out of the 750 units that'll ever be produced, the United States will get only 120 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar limited edition models. Considering the S60 sedan starts from $59,300 and the family oriented V60 wagon has a $60,990 sticker price, it's safe to say that these two Swedish bruisers are expensive.
Just to put those MSRPs into perspective, a brand spanking new Cadillac CTS-V in either sedan or wagon guise starts from $64,900. A little bit more than the Polestars, but for that little bit extra dough you get a brutal 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that will offer no less than 556 horsepower, which is enough firepower for a blistering 0 to 60 mph time.
Both Volvo Polestar models are using a turbocharged 3-liter inline six-pot with 345 ponies on tap and 369 lb-ft of torque sent to a rear-biased all-wheel drive system via a six-speed automatic gearbox. That translates to a 4.7-second 0 to 60 mph run for the S60 and a top speed electronically limited at 155 mph. So what else do you get for such a big amount of money? Well, some highlight features are the six-piston Brembo brakes and 20-inch unique design alloy wheels running Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber.
Compared to the more mundane versions of the S60 and V60, the Polestar variant gets Ohlins shock absorbers, so it's not as comfortable as one might think, but it'll be a blast on winding canyon roads, alright. Despite the high price, both Volvos come with a lot of features thrown in as standard: climate control, keyless drive, auto up/down power windows for every door, a digital instrument cluster, leather everywhere and a racy steering wheel.
Buyers of the 2015 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar also get completely free of charge goodies such as Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, a suite of active and passive safety systems, a Harman Kardon sound system and a 7-inch Volvo Sensus Connect system with integrated modem and sat-nav.
