Volvo Concept Universe Shown in Shanghai
Called Concept Universe, the new model has been unveiled on Tuesday with little information attached. Even so, there are a few elements in this concept that might preview a possible design direction for Volvo.
The most striking element that can be noticed on the model is the front grille, which has been changed nearly completely from the one in use on models today. The grille, which comes as an extension of the swirl of lines that emanate from the headlights, is adorned with the Volvo logo, the single element that let's you know what brand is the model you are looking at.
Another major difference between the Universe and the rest of the Volvo range is the completely redesigned hood. Whereas today's Volvos come with hoods that seem to lean forward, the concept features a radically different set of curves. Where is this all going?
"This is the next step in the proud history of luxury Volvo sedans," said Stefan Jacoby, Volvo CEO. "We will listen very carefully to what the Chinese car buyers think of the design. Later, we will also show the Concept Universe in other parts of the world. This brings it into the global context we are aiming for with all our cars."
