Volkswagen Want to Become Leader in Electric Mobility by 2018
The VW Group has set an ambition target to become market leader in electric mobility by 2018. A multi-billion Euro investment is planned which the company has yet to detail.Winterkorn says they have already recruited 400 top experts for electric traction and qualified almost 70,000 development, production and service employees in this new technology.
Doctor Winterkorn was accompanied on stage by four new VW Group electric mobility vehicles. The Volkswagen brand brought out the new e-Up! and e-Golf, Audi the A3 etron and Porsche put forth its luxury foot with the 2013 Panamera S E-Hybrid.
“We are starting at exactly the right time. We are electrifying all vehicle classes, and therefore have everything we need to make the Volkswagen Group the top automaker in all respects, including electric mobility, by 2018,” Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, said on the eve of the 65th International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main.
