Bringing a touch of class to the joyful Beetle Cabriolet, Volkswagen has put a new Karmann special edition model on sale in Germany this week. It features a number of small design changes and additional equipment packaged at the
This is the second Karmann edition from Volkswagen in just as many years, after the Golf Cabriolet from 2013. However, the Beetle is arguably the best design of the two. Both pay tribute to the Karmann coachwork makers which produced numerous Volkswagen cars from 1949 to 1980. But you probably already knew all about that thanks to legendary Ghia.

The feature that really sells this new Beetle design is the 18-inch “Disc” design wheels painted Galvano Grey with chrome caps. This works well with the Sioux brown fabric of the folding roof that's been specifically designed for the Karmann.

Based on the regular Beetle’s Design trim level, the Beetle Karmann retails from €25,250 in Germany, the only major market announced so far. However, that's only the base price of the car, taking into account the least powerful engine offered, a 1.2 TSI with 105 PS. However, a wide range of engines and gearboxes can be ordered, including TDI diesels and DSG twin-clutch automatics.

Standard equipment includes Park Pilot, sport seats in Alcantara, special edition skid plates, leather-trimmed steering wheel, aluminum pedals and Karmann-specific badging.
