Volkswagen has just announced that a concept called the T-ROC will be presented for the first time at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Our first glimpse of the car comes through renderings which appear to suggest a very small crossover SUV is being considered by the German automaker.
At 4,179mm in length, the T-ROC is in line with the dimensions of the recently formed B-segment SUV market, where models like the Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur have recently been introduced to great success. But the VW concept is not a production car, only a "glimpse at future Volkswagen SUVs."
With thin headlights forming a brow over circular fixtures, there's more than a passing resemblance to the Nissan Juke here. However, that's where the similarities end. The T-ROC rocks only one pair of doors and sports a typically Volkswagen Blue-Splash Metallic paintjob.

There's also a hint of Audi TT blood in the T-ROC's genes, as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster fitted in the place of a traditional speedo and the overall vibe of the TT Shooting Brake concept from Detroit are present.
Powering the concept is not some plug-in electric system, but something you might actually want to buy in the real world. Underhood, there's a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI engine that delivers 184 HP and 380 Nm of torque through a seven-speed DSG gearbox. If that sound familiar, that's because it's the same engine powering the Golf GTD diesel hot hatch. The whole bundle of blue joy weighs a hefty 1,420 kg (3,130 lb), which is a lot for a concept, but thanks to 4MOTION all-wheel drive 0 to 100 km/h takes only 6.9 seconds, less than in a GTD.
