Volkswagen Shows First CrossPolo Pictures

Following its plan to became the world’s largest automaker by 2018, Volkswagen has to take careful decisions and avoid making any serious mistakes. Another important part of the strategy is enhancing its line-up. After the success it had with the Polo last year, Volkswagen will present at the Geneva Auto Show the new CrossPolo. Until the official unveiling, the Germans showed some photos of the new model. According to the manufacturer, the CrossPolo will ride 15 mm higher than a standard Polo, as its ground clearance has been increased. The model will only come in a five door configuration and will have the usual engines: 1.2 liter 70 hp, 1.4 liter 85 hp and 1.2 liter TSI 105 hp petrol engines, and the 1.6 TDI 75 hp, 90 hp and 105 hp diesel engines. This is not the only Polo to be unveiled at Geneva, as Volkswagen also announced it will unveil the Polo GTI. “The fastest, most focused and cleanest performance Polo yet produced,” is powered by twin-charged 1.4-liter TSI engine mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission, both of which are also used on the Seat Ibiza Cupra. Unlike the CrossPolo, the ride height has been dropped by 15mm compared to the conventional Polo. The new Polo has been the first Volkswagen Car of the Year 2010 in Europe in 18 years. autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
