Volkswagen Reports Strong US September Sales
“Tracking over a 37 percent increase year-to-date is a strong proof point that our products are on more shopping lists and gaining acceptance in the market,” said Jonathan Browning, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. “As we enter the fourth quarter of the year, we expect to continue our pattern of outperforming the industry.”
The VW Passat saw its sales double to 9,500 units in September. Earlier this month the Passat topped its best sales year ever in just nine months of the year.
Demand for the smaller Jetta sedan were (-1.8% to 15,023 units in total). Meanwhile the Tiguan enjoyed its best September ever, while the Beetle continued to go strong, reporting a 263% increase to its demand. In September alone, 2,166 of them were sold, and for the year to date demand is more than 20 times better than in 2011.
